Mentoring and motivating for success 180209

While it is common to hear of a vocal guru or a dance guru, did you know that even the local burger industry would have their very own ‘guru’s’ for those in the business to learn from? While almost anyone can make a burger, making a really scrumptious burger does need some effort and grilling skills, and contrary to popular belief, there really ARE secrets to burger success. What’s more, apart from turning flipping burgers into an art form in their very own way, they’re entrepreneurs too!

As one of the world’s leading food service providers, Unilever Foodsolutions recognizes the untapped potential of the local burger business and have over the years conceptualised various programmes to engage with this segment of the population. Led by its key brand Lady’s Choice, among the key activities it has undertaken over the years include a burger-making competition which took place in both 2005 and 2007, entrepreneurial seminars and incentive programmes which aim to help burger business owners, affectionately known as burger boys, to grow their business.

This year’s activity, dubbed Kembara Kejayaan Lady’s Choice, will see previous winners of the burger-making competition, namely Faizal Muhammad, Ruddy bin Ibrahim and Nazri Ismail, embark on a roadshow throughout Peninsular Malaysia to share their personal stories and entrepreneurial tips with their peers. Also known as Juara Burger, Faizal and Nazri were winners in the competition in 2005 and 2007 respectively.

“Kembara Kejayaan Lady’s Choice is a unique platform which aims to give back to society by providing a platform for burger boys to gain business wisdom from successful peers that may help them to gain a competitive edge,” said Nik Mustapha Nik Mohamed, Director of Human Resources and Corporate Relations for Unilever ( Malaysia) Holdings Sdn Bhd.

“Typicallypeddlers of humble single-stall burger carts, these young entrepreneurs represent a formidable market segment with huge growth potential. We hope that the mentoring efforts from their senior counterparts will help to empower them and spur them on to achieve bigger things, and ultimately contribute to the growth of the small and medium enterprise (SME) industry in Malaysia,” he concluded.

This initiative will officially kick off today at pre-selected burger wholesalers and burger stalls throughout Peninsular Malaysia for a period of 30 days. For more information on Kembara Kejayaan Lady’s Choice, members of the public can contact 03-8076 9198.
