Unilever celebrated as a top employer in Singapore

Unilever clinched the third spot in LinkedIn’s 2021 Top Companies List in Singapore, an annual guide that celebrates the companies that nurture and inspire their teams.

The results of LinkedIn’s 2021 Top Companies List in Singapore were based on data exclusively from LinkedIn’s 740 million members across the globe, ranking companies based on seven key areas: ability to advance, skills growth, company stability, external opportunity, company affinity, gender diversity and educational background.

Unilever also emerged as a leading employer in The Singapore’s 100 Leading Graduate Employers rankings, coming in as the top company in the FMCG category.

Securing the top position in the category reflects the strong reputation and popularity of Unilever as an employer among the minds of Singaporean students planning a career in the consumer goods sector.

Singapore’s 100 Leading Graduate Employers rankings are determined by the Singapore Graduate Barometer, an independent annual survey conducted in partnership with universities across the nation. It is the largest and longest-running study on graduate recruitment trends in Singapore.

Driven by purpose

As a company driven by purpose, Unilever’s efforts to help protect lives and livelihoods within the local community received special mention in the LinkedIn guide, especially Unilever’s collaboration with the National Environment Agency to distribute care packages to all 14,000 hawkers in Singapore last year. The care packages contained Unilever’s cleaning brands, Cif and Sunlight, as well as hygiene education guides to help hawkers stay safe and keep their businesses going during the pandemic.

LinkedIn also gave credit to Unilever’s efforts which have made the company an industry leader in sustainability. One key achievement was meeting its 2020 gender equality goal early – 50% of all managerial roles across the global business are held by women.

Recognising that the future of work is changing, Unilever’s decision to operate a hybrid, future-fit workforce where the entire team will, according to CEO Alan Jope, “never again return to desks” for a full five-day week was another reason for the accolade.
