World Food Day
Bringing the issue of food depravation and hunger closer to home, community engagement activities were organised to provide channels for employees to reach out and help those who are less fortunate in our society.
With that in mind, Unilever partnered with a local community organisation, Food from the Heart. The non-governmental organisation is active in delivering excess food from businesses and re-distributing them to over 1,000 beneficiaries who comprise mainly senior citizens living in various community precincts in Singapore.
Through this partnership, Unileverites were able to visit the elderly residents at Kolam Ayer Community in Geylang Bahru, distributing over 200 Unilever product packs to the residents. This activity was further supported by a fundraiser through the sale of lunch set meals.
Total proceeds amounted to S$2,517.00, which were then used to purchase basic food necessities such as rice and canned goods for over 200 elderly residents.
