Top 8 Finalists Selected for the Ultimate Challenge

25-03-2006 : The Rexona ‘No Sweat’ Challenge is back! Following previous year’s successful Rexona ‘No Sweat’ dance competition, the Challenge is now bigger than before.

This year the Challenge is to find the most confident and courageous young man who can push himself to the extreme and dare to test his own limits of strength and fear.

In conjunction with the launch of the Rexona No Sweat! Xtreme Challenge, members of the media were invited to witness the unveiling of the Extreme Stunts to be performed on the Final Challenge Event, due to take place on 8 April2006, as well as the selection of the top 8 finalists for the Final Challenge Event. The highlight of the event however, was the unveiling of the main stunt to be performed by the participants on the final day challenge which involves a moving helicopter. A helicopter that will be used on the final day challenge on 8 Aprilwas pulled in by the Grand Prize, a brand new, limited edition Ford Ranger.

Lim Eng Seong, Marketing Director, Home & Personal Care Business Group, Unilever informed that the Rexona®  “No Sweat Challenge” is part of Rexona’s communications efforts to inculcate confidence amongst its young target group of women and men. The strategy in promoting the Rexona®  brand does not only centre on the physical aspect of the human body, but the mental aspect as well. Rexona®  stresses not only on the importance of preventing physical body odour, but equally important, the mental energy and confidence in which people acquire – especially with the younger generation. 

Prior to today’s elimination round, participants were invited to take part in the Rexona No-Sweat! Xtreme Challenge SMS Contest which allowed them to rank their choice of the most challenging Xtreme Stunts which were featured at the Rexona For Men point-of-sale product displays and on the Rexona For Men website at www.rexonaformen.com.my. The SMS contest which ran for a month ended 25 March 2006saw 50 lucky winners winning Casio S-Shock Watch worth RM399 each.

35 voters who were interested to take a step further to test their strength and limits were earlier short listed for a physical test. 21 candidates successfully made it through today’s Elimination Round at the 1-Utama New Wing Main Entrance where they will be required to perform ‘Xtreme Stunts’. The first Challenge required participants to abseil down a two-storey high pointin the fastest time while collecting as many flags as possible. 12 participants with the fastest time advanced to the second Challenge where they had to unlock themselves with multiple keys inside a Ford Ranger after which they had to climb to the back of the vehicle to roll and hook two tyres to a pole. 

After the series of elimination, 8 top finalists successfully qualified for the final round, the ultimate Final Challenge in April 2006 where one lucky winner will have the chance to drive home the Grand Prize of a Limited Edition Ford Ranger, co-sponsored by Ford.

For Men Who Dare, is the calling for this Xtreme Challenge. It was truly an inspiration to see these participants show up with so much enthusiasm and zest – each participant staying cool and calm under the toughest environment - without breaking a sweat. According to Lim, the Rexona® “No Sweat” Challenge is an active means of encouraging the public to be confident in facing the challenges in life, which in today’s fast paced world, is in great demand.  

To catch the participants in action performing exciting, challenging and risky stunts as well as find out who will be the lucky winner to walk away with the Grand Prize, members of the media and public are invited to the grounds of 1-Utama this coming 8 April2006.
