Breeze ‘DiGs’ Deep with Ronaldinho

30-06-2006 : As fans across the globe watch the World Cup action heat up on the pitch in anticipation of the upcoming finals, Breeze reminds everyone that it’s okay to get dirty at play like the footballers do, because contrary to popular belief, dirt IS good!

The household Unilever brand launched its Breeze Skill Ball Challenge in conjunction with its ‘Dirt is Good’  campaign, which features Breeze Limited Edition Ball signed exclusively by one of Brazil’s finest football talents and FIFA World Player of the Year, Ronaldinho.

Speaking at the launch today held at Menara Telekom, Kuala Lumpur, Sze Tian Poh, Chairman & Managing Director of Unilever Malaysiasaid, “Typically, mothers view their child’s playtime as earned leisure and not as being key to the child’s learning and development.

“Play is an important part of a child’s learning process. We encourage mothers to let their children play, learn and get dirty. While it is obvious enough that the product itself is used to remove the dirt, the learning process is Breeze’s philosophy, and our brand social responsibility,” he added.

The DiG philosophy was gradually launched from country to country over the last two years from Brazil, Turkey, Europeand Asia(Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam). The campaign also brought about the creation of the ‘Splat’ icon as brand signature.

The Ronaldinho and Breeze connection was ignited through the football star’s active involvement with many charities, believing strongly in helping children to develop and

using his fame to draw attention to their plight. He especially loves linking football with humanitarian causes, and since both Ronaldinho and Breeze believe in the value of play, the perfect partnership was formed.

At the launch, members of the media were also given the challenge to display their skills in football juggling.

The Breeze Skill Ball Challenge  will kick off from starting July 15th – 6th Aug, on Saturdays and Sundays. There will be five locations where the contest will be held, starting with preliminary rounds in the Klang Valley, Penang, Kuantan, Johor Bahru, and finally back in Shah Alam Giant supermarket for the finals. And the Grand Prize for the winning juggler? A whopping RM5,000!

The contest will be opened to anyone aged 18 years old and below. All they need to do is buy any promo pack of Breeze to participate in the challenge. In addition, a cash prize of RM500 each will be awarded to five winners from the preliminary rounds.

The spectacular nationwide promotion starts from June 2006 onwards and while stocks last. The sized 2 Ball, or better known as the ‘skill ball’, is available in five exciting colours – Gold, Silver, Red, Blue and Pink packed with Breeze Regular and Colour packs (3kg and 5kg).

In fact, the autographed ball can also be used to improve footballing skills and encourage creative passing techniques. Most Brazilian children began developing their footballing skills with a sized 2 ball, including Ronaldinho himself.

Feel the football fever this World Cup season and pick up a Breeze Limited Edition Ball signed by the world’s best player at all participating outlets.
